Ten Things to Love About Book Creator

1. Simple, free to use ebook creator

Book Creator is an online ebook creation tool. It is simple enough for elementary students to use, but has so many features that content creators like to use it as well to design media for education. The free version allows you to have one library and store up to 40 books.

2. There are lots of tools for adding content

The add media button allows you to import, use your device's camera for images and videos, draw using the pen, type in a textbox, and record—all within Book Creator.

The import tool allows you to add images, Google Maps, files from your computer or Google Drive, and even embed content from the Internet, like YouTube videos, Flipgrid, and Google Forms.

Dictation is also built in and can be a successful accommodation for your students who cannot type.

I especially love the auto pen tool that guesses what you are drawing and gives you simple icons to use in place of your drawing.

3. Built in image search

When using the Import tool you are able to search for images right within Book Creator. All images are free to use and modify without giving credit to the owner of the image.

4. Audio supported reading

If you use the text tool to add your writing, your readers can use the Read to Me feature and have the computerized voice read the text. Additionally, you can use the record tool to add your own audio recording.

5. Create columns of text

One of my favorite features about Book Creator is that you can create columns of text. With columns you can easily make newsletters, newspapers, and informational articles. My students are always looking for new ways to present their informational writing. With Book Creator it is simple! The columns are linked so the words automatically organize themselves!

When you add text one of the options allows you to create columns. The columns are linked and the writing automatically flows from one column to the next. This is one of the biggest features I had been missing when my students wrote informational articles using other programs.

6. Free templates

Select a template

Book Creator offers a handful of free templates to start from. Choose newspaper, photobook, cookbook, yearbook, textbook, magazine, notebook, fiction, or one of the themes.

7. Easy to share
